Go Green 2025

Go Green Eco Urban Festival 2025

Welcome by Cllr Mike Hakata

For the last few years, we’ve witnessed something extraordinary unfold in our community – the Go Green Eco Urban Festival has become more than an event; it’s evolved into a movement that challenges how we think about urban sustainability and environmental. This year’s festival, running throughout June, arrives at a critical juncture. Climate data continues to reveal the urgency of our situation, yet here in Tottenham, we’re not just talking about change – we’re actively creating it. The festival embodies a fundamental shift from traditional environmental approaches that often exclude working-class communities, towards inclusive green solutions that address real needs.

Sustainable fashion initiatives are making eco-conscious choices accessible, not elitist. Affordable fuel and energy programmes tackle the intersection of environmental and economic justice. Job creation through green skills training builds community wealth. Zero waste culinary approaches celebrate cultural diversity whilst protecting our planet.

The statistics behind this movement are compelling. Communities like ours, which have historically borne the brunt of environmental degradation, are now leading innovative solutions. When we invest in warm homes programmes, we’re not just reducing carbon emissions – we’re addressing fuel poverty. When we support sustainable jobs training, we’re creating pathways to economic mobility whilst building the green economy.

What strikes me most profoundly is how this festival demonstrates that environmental action and social justice are inseparable. The climate conversations happening throughout June aren’t abstract policy discussions – they’re practical dialogues rooted in lived experience and community knowledge.

How do we ensure environmental solutions serve those most affected by environmental harm? What happens when communities lead their own green transition? How can we scale these hyperlocal innovations across urban Britain?

This festival represents something vital: the recognition that our communities possess both the creativity and determination to forge a sustainable future. It’s not about imposing solutions from above, but about supporting grassroots innovation that emerges from genuine community need.

The transformation begins here, in Tottenham, with neighbours supporting neighbours to live green and live better. Join us in reimagining what environmental action looks like when it’s truly inclusive, truly local, and truly transformative.

Word from the Organisers

We’re excited to launch the Go Green Eco Urban Festival, Accelerate Acton, a vibrant celebration of sustainability and community spirit. Last year, our dedicated team was honoured as the Winner of the Green and Sustainability Award at the Haringey Community Showcase and Awards 2024, recognising our impactful promotion of green, sustainable, and environmental messaging. This year, we invite you to dive into a packed schedule of exciting activities: savour culinary delights, create beautiful arts and crafts, upcycle items into usable treasures, learn sewing and mending skills, and participate in engaging climate conversations, seminars and workshops. Join us in making a green pledge and be part of the conversation on sustainability. Let’s come together to make a difference and celebrate our commitment to a greener future. Get involved, make a pledge, and let’s accelerate action towards a sustainable tomorrow! info@4u2newsmag.com www.4u2newsmag.com
