Summer sunshine can lift your mood, but too much
exposure can cause long‑term damage to the skin. As a
beauty specialist, I always remind clients that healthy,
glowing skin starts with protection. UV rays penetrate
the skin even on cloudy days, breaking down collagen, speeding up ageing, and increasing the risk of sunburn
and hyperpigmentation Protecting your skin now helps
prevent fine lines, dark spots, and dryness later.
Why Sun Protection Matters
- UVB rays burn the surface of the skin, causing redness and irritation.
- UVA rays go deeper, damaging collagen and accelerating premature ageing.
- Heat can dehydrate the skin, making it more sensitive and prone to inflammation.
- Repeated unprotected exposure increases long‑term skin health risks.
A Simple Summer Skin‑Soothing Recipe
Cooling Cucumber & Aloe Rescue Mask
This calming mask hydrates, cools, and restores balance after time outdoors.
Ingredients:
- ½ cucumber
- 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
- 1 teaspoon honey
Method:
Blend the cucumber, then mix in the aloe and honey. Apply to clean skin for 10–12
minutes. Rinse with cool water to reduce heat and refresh the complexion.

Dianna’s Essential Summer Protection Tips
- Wear SPF 30 or higher daily and reapply every two hours when outdoors.
- Choose mineral SPF if you have sensitive or reactive skin.
- Stay in the shade between 11am–3pm when UV levels peak.
- Keep your moisturiser and toner in the fridge for a cooling, anti‑inflammatory boost.
- Drink plenty of water — hydrated skin is more resilient in hot weather.
- Wear a wide‑brimmed hat and lightweight clothing to protect delicate areas.
Healthy summer skin is protected skin. With the right care, you can enjoy the sunshine
while keeping your complexion bright, calm, and beautifully nourished.
