Environmental Education and Response CIC was established in 2024, though the business model began evolving as far back as 2004.
Why did you start your business?
The idea was sparked in 2004 after noticing inequalities in recycling services. Street properties received recycling and later food waste collections, while estates had none. This highlighted wider inequalities in environmental awareness and support. I wanted to promote inclusion, provide resources, and ensure underserved communities were not left behind.
Today, we deliver environmental services, support, and sustainable products across North London (Haringey).
What training was required?
The community has been my greatest teacher, shaping my skills in effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, advocacy, leadership, growing, and gardening. Professionally, I have
studied business and administration, environmental awareness, recycling, and upcycling.
What does a typical day look like?
My work adapts to the needs of the community. A day may start with delivering recycling liners or training residents, and continue with gardening support or engagement activities. My focus always begins in the kitchen and extends into the wider community.
