Recipes For Life by Sally Sturgeon

Across Haringey, the power of community istransforming the local food landscape with energy, pride and purpose. The Haringey
Community Food Network (HCFN) brings together emergency food providers, growers, food banks, hubs, community kitchens and
veg‑box schemes — all working towards one shared mission: ensuring every resident can access good, nourishing food. In the east of the borough, where many households continue to face hardship and
food insecurity, HCFN members are providing practical, people‑centred support. Warm kitchens offer shared meals, food hubs distribute fresh produce, and volunteers deliver essentials to
neighbours who need a hand. It is community care at its strongest.
This year, HCFN also launched the beautiful “Recipe for Love” cookbook at Omved Gardens — a celebration of affordable meals and the stories behind them. Local community chefs contributed their most‑loved dishes, showing how simple ingredients can create comfort, dignity and joy.
Across Haringey, the message is clear: food is community — and everyone deserves a seat at the table.
