Support This Winter
by Jessica Goldsmith
As winter approaches, many residents face added pressures—from rising energy costs to the challenges of staying connected during darker months. The cost of living crisis has left some households struggling, while loneliness can weigh heavily on individuals without strong support networks.
Help is available. Local services across Haringey are offering practical and emotional support, including warm spaces, food banks, health advice, and community groups. Residents can access information through Haringey Council’s website, NHS 111 for health concerns, and national helplines such as Age UK and Mind.

NHS London Winter Wellness 2025
Stay Well, Stay Warm, Stay Connected As the colder months arrive, the NHS
North Central London Integrated Care Board (ICB) has launched its Winter Wellness 2025 campaign, designed to help residents stay healthy, safe, and supported throughout the season.
The campaign encourages everyone to take simple steps to protect their wellbeing:
- Samaritans (urgent listening support): 116 123
-
- Get vaccinated against flu and COVID-19 to reduce risk and protect vulnerable groups.
-
- Keep warm by layering clothing, heating homes safely, and checking in on neighbours who may need extra support.
-
- Treat minor illnesses early with advice from pharmacists and NHS 111, helping to
-
- ease pressure on emergency services.
-
- Access local support services for mental health, nutrition, and community care—because no one should feel alone this winter.
The Winter Wellness flyer and toolkit, available through the NHS London hub, provide easy-to-read guidance, posters, and resources for practices, pharmacies, and community groups. These materials
ensure that vital messages reach residents across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington.
By working together, the campaign highlights the importance of connection, prevention, and care, reminding us that small acts—like sharing information, checking in on loved ones, or joining
local wellness activities—can make a big difference.
This season, reaching out matters. Whether you need assistance yourself or know someone who may be isolated, a simple call or visit can make a difference. Together, we can ensure noone faces winter alone.
- Access local support services for mental health, nutrition, and community care—because no one should feel alone this winter.
