Eat Wood Green
The Ubele Initiative has pioneered an incredible new food growing and education space
at Wood Green Library. Haringey Council has installed a brand-new classroom and
innovative, accessible balcony on the first floor of the children’s library
“Eat Wood Green” will offer a range of
activities including:
- Schools’ sessions
- Under 5’s activities
- After-school gardening club (ages 5-11
and 12-18) - Holiday activities
These sessions are funded by the
GLA “High Streets for All” initiative
and will be delivered by Black Rootz,
an intergenerational, Black-led food
growing enterprise.
The focus will be on:
- Sharing knowledge on how to grow food
on windowsills, balconies, and green
spaces - Learning about the environment and the
importance of healthy eating - Improving mental and physical
wellbeing
Delivery is an extension of Wolves Lane
Horticulture Centre (N22 5JD), where we
have a community plant shop, training
courses, and volunteer opportunities.
